If something here is unclear, contact us before creating or continuing to use an account.
1. Accepting these Terms
By creating an account, accessing Hissaa or continuing to use the service, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Hissaa.
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding agreement to create an account. If you use Hissaa for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for it.
2. What Hissaa does
Hissaa helps people record shared expenses, calculate balances, coordinate settlements and keep a common ledger. Features may include flexible splits, receipt text recognition, voice-assisted drafts, imports, reminders, comments and optional humorous notification styles.
Hissaa is a record-keeping and coordination tool. It is not a bank, wallet, lender, payment processor, debt collector, accounting adviser or financial adviser. It does not hold or transfer money. Any payment happens through a separate payment service chosen by the people involved.
3. Your account
- Provide accurate, current information and keep it updated.
- Keep your password, device and sign-in methods secure. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless you promptly report unauthorised access.
- Use only one person’s identity for each account and do not impersonate another person.
- Tell us promptly at feneelp@gmail.com if you believe your account or a group has been compromised.
4. Shared groups and your content
A shared ledger depends on information supplied by its members. You are responsible for expenses, names, comments, contact details, photos and other content you add. Only add information that is accurate and that you have the right to share.
Group members can see information shared with their group and may rely on it. Hissaa does not independently verify whether an expense occurred, whether a person agreed to a split or whether a settlement was completed. Members should resolve disagreements with each other and correct the ledger when needed.
You keep ownership of content you provide. You give Hissaa a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, process, display and transmit that content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the service. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except where a shared record must remain for other members or a limited copy must be retained by law or in routine backups.
5. Payments and payment identifiers
A saved UPI ID or payment link is provided only to help members coordinate a payment. Check the recipient, amount and payment-app details before authorising any transfer. Hissaa cannot reverse a payment, recover funds sent to the wrong person or guarantee that a displayed payment identifier is correct.
Balances shown in Hissaa are informal records between members, not legal findings or enforceable payment instructions. You remain responsible for taxes, reimbursements, currency conversion and any other obligations that may apply to your transactions.
6. Scans, voice drafts and imports
Receipt recognition, voice entry, calculations and imported data can be incomplete or wrong. Review every draft, participant, amount, currency, date and split before saving or paying. You are responsible for the final record you confirm.
7. Notifications and optional humour
Notifications are a convenience and may arrive late, more than once or not at all. Do not rely on Hissaa for urgent, safety-critical or legally required notices.
Sarcastic copy is optional and governed by the Sarcasm & Humor Policy available in the app. It does not change ledger facts. You can choose a neutral tone or disable optional notifications through available settings.
8. Acceptable use
- Do not use Hissaa for fraud, harassment, threats, unlawful debt collection or any illegal activity.
- Do not upload malware, scrape the service, probe security, bypass limits or interfere with other people’s access.
- Do not expose another person’s private information without a valid reason and permission.
- Do not use automated means to create accounts or access the service unless Hissaa has given written permission.
- Do not copy, resell or misrepresent Hissaa or remove proprietary notices from the service.
9. Hissaa’s service and intellectual property
Hissaa and its software, design, branding and original content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, Hissaa gives you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the service.
If you send feedback, you allow Hissaa to use it without restriction or payment, but you do not have to provide feedback.
10. Third-party services
Hissaa may rely on or link to services provided by others, including sign-in providers, notification delivery, photo storage, SMS delivery, app stores and payment apps. Their terms and privacy practices apply to their services. Hissaa is not responsible for a third-party service that it does not control.
11. Availability, changes and charges
Hissaa may add, remove or change features, impose reasonable usage limits, or suspend parts of the service for maintenance, security or legal reasons. The service is currently offered without a subscription fee. If paid features are introduced, their price and terms will be shown before you choose to buy them; you will not be charged without your action and consent.
12. Suspension and account deletion
You may stop using Hissaa at any time and can delete your account through the app or the public account-deletion page. Hissaa may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users or the service, investigate abuse, comply with law or address a serious breach of these Terms. Where practical, we will provide notice and a way to contact support.
Deleting an account is permanent. Shared groups may be transferred to another member and references needed to preserve their ledger may be anonymised as “Deleted member,” as explained in the Privacy Policy.
13. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, Hissaa is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise uninterrupted operation, perfect accuracy, recovery of every record or compatibility with every device or third-party service. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
14. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Hissaa and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for lost profits, data, goodwill or opportunities arising from use of the service. Hissaa is not responsible for disputes between members or for payments made outside the service. These limits do not apply where liability cannot legally be limited.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before starting formal proceedings, contact feneelp@gmail.com and allow a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue informally. Subject to rights that applicable consumer law gives you, courts with competent jurisdiction in India may hear unresolved disputes.
16. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms as Hissaa changes. Material updates will be posted here with a new effective date and, where appropriate, notified in the service. Continued use after the updated Terms take effect means you accept them. Questions can be sent to feneelp@gmail.com.
